Sanjeev Sabhlok A, I'm personally not a proponent of this custom, but realise that it has economic implications for families, and I prefer to treat it is a social problem, which means social reformers should deal with it. No state laws can be imposed. If someone is harmed, standard civil/criminal laws should deal with it.
