   Okay, here’s my translation (apologies if it sounds too crude, I’m not a poet):

   Permit bina is jahaan mein do din bhi na jiya jaye
   Permit Permit Permit..

   Without permits, it is impossible to survive in this country even for two days.

   (To a shrine,) You’re greater than everybody else in this world
   You’re the one who created it
   Yet, those babus who issue permits are far more important than you.

   A permit after being born!
   A permit for staying alive!
   A permit after death!

   One day I went out to have a few drinks
   But ended up at the police station
   There, they asked for my permit which I did not have.

   In order to avoid more permits,
   I planned to secretly consume some poison
   So I went to a shop and asked for some poison
   Alas, I did not have a permit for that

   When Mujnoo asked for Laila’s hand in marriage,
   She told him to ask her father first.
   The old man insisted on showing a permit before marrying her!
