I met Rohini Kappadath today, a phenomenally experienced businesswoman who has spent her life shuttling between India and Australia, building businesses, building bridges, and teaching Australians (and the world) about the great business opportunity that exists in India. She also established SAS Institute India, an enormously successful business operation.
My goal for the meeting was to seek her views on the govrank.in idea that I've spoken about earlier. She believes this concept enters into a very competitive and crowded field, so I'll need to think about any specific niche that might exist. I'll update the slides which are available on the govrank website, which anyone can download and provide comment.
My goal for govrank is two-fold: to find a mechanism to motivate state governments in India to perform better, and to find a way by which it becomes financially viable for me to return to India full-time.
I won't go into details of our meeting, but here's a TV interview with Rohini that I believe everyone (including Indians!) can benefit from. Rohini is one of the most expressive communicators I've come across, and makes her points sharply and clearly.
As part of the meeting I introduced her to the Freedom Team idea, and there is a possibility she will connect some potential new candidates to FTI.
