I notice that Mr Ratan Tata has stood out in defence of MMS. This is a growing ritual in India – for crony capitalists who have grown fat through government support and favours, to cosy up to the powers that be.

Mostly, it is the sweet nice man MMS who is defended for his being so sweet and nice and "honest", even as he sits on top of the pyramid of the MOST CORRUPT organisation in the world.

Even drug mafias have far greater integrity than Congress.

I have no doubt that MMS is personally INCORRUPTIBLE. Yet that is simply NOT ENOUGH.

It is beyond comprehension to imagine being part of the gang of criminals that constitutes the Congress party, and yet pretend to be "honest". I've seen members of this gang, worked with them, know exactly how they function.

Unless MMS wears blinkers, he is DELIBERATELY and CONSCIOUSLY SUPPORTING this gang in its loot and destruction of India. That should never be forgotten.

I have no sympathies for such crony capitalists, of whom India has a PLETHORA.

Since JRD Tata, there has not been ANY respectworthy Tata. Definitely not Ratan Tata.

If you want to earn MY respect, Mr Ratan Tata, then please follow the footsteps of the Great Indian, JRD – your uncle.

You choose, instead, to lick the boots of the corrupt. That's your choice.

When people like MMS (and you) face the natural reputational consequences of their actions,  they can't complain about it. These are just deserts.

There is still time for both you and MMS to redeem yourselves. And for many others.

Be men. Not earthworms indulging your passions in pile of compost.

Why should Anna Hazare be the only one to speak the truth in India about corruption? Why not you?????

Because HE has nothing to lose, whereas you will lose your pretty empire?

To what avail, Mr Tata?

Will you take your empire with you after your death?

Leave a LEGACY behind. Of a NEW, HONEST, WELL GOVERNED INDIA.

Be a JRD. Support TRUTH AND LIBERTY.

Right on target, Sanjeev! There can be no better description of the state of affairs than this.

    Sir,
I was a little surprised at some of the things you said against Mr. Ratan Tata, to wit:
“Since JRD Tata, there has not been ANY respectworthy Tata. Definitely not Ratan Tata.”
“You choose, instead, to lick the boots of the corrupt.”
You also implied that he too was “a crony capitalist”.
Now, I do not claim to have any detailed knowledge of the dealings of the Tata group of companies but the reason I was surprised is that it is generally acknowledged that the Tata group is one of the few that are known for their emphasis on ethical running of their businesses and that they were opposed to crony capitalism. Is this impression contrary to the facts? Your write-up seems to affirm that.
Be that as it may, Mr. Tata merely exhorted the PM to get on with the promised reforms. I quote: “Now is the moment in time our Prime Minister must break convention, restore government credibility, place the country on a growth path once again by implementing promised reforms, removing roadblocks to growth and controlling crony capitalism,” Does that exhortation amount to obsequiousness? Admittedly, Tata went on to say, “…but to single out and blame the Prime Minister is grossly misdirected”. And here I am inclined to disagree with Tata. As the Prime Minister, there were several things he could have done to stem the rot or at least to show that he did all in his power to that end. But he chose not to and, therefore, he has to bear the brunt of the criticism. That said, is Tata responsible for the fact that MMS is too timid or helpless to do anything about the monstrous corruption prevalent in the Congress?

    Dear Varadaraj

I can understand your surprise at my rather clear and blunt statement.

There are degrees of crony capitalists. Some who will try to retain their personal integrity even as the organisation is allowed to “negotiate” the political system. Ratan Tata falls in that category. These are people (and there are many like him) who believe that they must retain integrity even as the organisation is allowed to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

My point is simple. Why haven’t Tatas and other Indian business leaders signed a FIRM commitment to NEVER bribe any politician or bureaucrat. Such is a basic requirement of international law now, but NO Indian business leader is willing to commit to this basic thing.

Similarly, MMS is not personal corrupt, but why does he not make a FIRM commitment that NO Congress leader will EVER use black money, take a bribe, or otherwise indulge in the loot of India?

    Why?

Because ALL such “leaders” are duplicitous. They pretend to be honest even as they allow the “system” to continue.

They do not commit to ANY high standards.

MMS keeps saying that controlling corruption is a difficult job. Why doesn’t he SWEAR by his God (if any) that Congress will NEVER be corrupt?

I’ve seen severely corrupt politicians and businesses LOOT India.

I’m therefore quite clear about what I say.

    And I don’t mince words.
