Like many Indian bloggers who prefer hide behind the a veil of anonymity, there is a blogger called "Wahsarkar" who has periodically posted some sensible blog posts.

But now things are no longer obvious. The truth is now being confounded by a new ethic, whereby hypocrisy is elevated to a higher pedestal than the truth.

First, who is wahsarkar? No one knows. Whether he/she is an Indian citizen (I hope), FBI agent or KGB stooge (I hope not!), no one knows. But somehow this person has suddenly formed some strong views about me – a person who is totally open about the truth and calls a spade a spade, regardless of consequences. Apparently my honesty is not desirable. The support of corrupt Congress by ("honest") Murthy is more desirable.

These are the people (like "wahsarkar") who claim that India doesn't have good governance but when someone steps forward and starts organising the alternative that India needs, they feel they are better off by running after the chamchas of Congress.

This anonmyous blogger has taken offence at my recent criticism of N.Murthy and started lecturing me on twitter. I'm presenting below the series of twitter comments exchanged, to set the record straight and to ensure that I'm not bullied by someone who is a blind fan of a Congress-lover. But before I do that, Mr/Ms. Wahsarkar, may I formally challenge you to:

a) disclose your identity (since I have told everyone about myself)

b) tell me why you are such a GREAT fan of MMS and Sonia?

c) provide me with your detailed moral philosophy, according to which we must not speak the truth but live in a "grey" zone.

Let me say that I had so far formed a good impression about your blog, but your recent obfuscation of the truth and strong support of a man who publicly praises the corrupt has disappointed me. I trust you'll realise your error and fix it in the coming years.

Let's be clear: we (you and I) should ATTACK AND OVERTHROW THE CORRUPT, not consort with them, nor praise them.

And if Murthy is totally unwilling to help us in this job of reforming India, but has instead determined to SUPPORT THE CORRUPT then he, too, MUST BE OVERTHROWN from his elevated pedestal. He preaches "values" but then commends MMS. This is intolerable. I have NO sympathy for such an approach, regardless of how rich he may be or how many jobs he may have created.

I expect a John Galt from our industry leaders, a JRD Tata. Anything less I don't care for.

@sabhlok Why is NRN obligated to back any political party? He leads by example – formed a multi-billion dollar entity w/o any corruption.

sabhlok Sanjeev Sabhlok

@wahsarkar If he praises the KING and QUEEN of corruption (MMS/SG) he should stop talking about corruption. Much better for his reputation.

wahsarkar Wah Sarkar

@sabhlok He's spoken against various govt policies also many times.Silly to criticize him for just having a political opinion.

sabhlok Sanjeev Sabhlok

@wahsarkar I would rather he not criticise, if he is then going to consort with the corrupt. That's extreme hypocrisy, which I detest!

wahsarkar Wah Sarkar

@sabhlok The world is not black & white.

sabhlok Sanjeev Sabhlok

@wahsarkar So you believe it is a good thing to be a hypocrite? A new moral system based on the principle of deception? Please teach me.

wahsarkar Wah Sarkar

@sabhlok Learn from yourself. How one preaches about electoral India by being an Australian citizen.Yet you are not a hypocrite.

sabhlok Sanjeev Sabhlok

@wahsarkar I'm an overseas India citizen and you know I'll take back my citizenship should FTI get going. Why are you misleading yourself?

  1. Sanjeev–

Why is it so important for you to know of wahsarkar’s identity? Is his identity important to his arguments? If he is making bad arguments, his arguments are bad whether he is an Indian citizen, FBI agent or KGB stooge and if his arguments are good then thay are good irrespective of his identity. His identity is important only if you want to indulge in ad hominems and not engage his arguments on its merits. By the same token his argument that your arguments are useless because you are a hypocrite since you discuss Indian issues while settling in Australia is also ad hominem.

PD (and this applies to you, too), there is a thing called context. While I’m certain that WS is an Indian, I’m also aware that in an anonymous situation all kinds of fraud can be perpetrated. I prefer to know whom I’m talking to. That doesn’t mean I won’t engage on ideas.

WS having questioned the nature of my interest in India, I am even more interested in knowing who is this WS.

1-Those who hide behind the veil of pseudo names are dishonest, scared, or are  hand-in- gloves with the corrupt.
2-Narayan Murthy is a businessman first and everything else (philanthropist etc.) later. To expect him to be openly critical of the powers-that-be is expecting too much.
3-I know of no businessman who has openly criticized the govt of the day (UPA or NDA).
4-Only those who have charisma and credibility but little to lose by way of material belongings or are prepared to lose whatever they have (like Anna Hazare or Ramdev) can openly revolt against the corrupt powers, and lead the revolution against the corrupt.

    Kishan,

You are wrong on one thing: “I know of no businessman who has openly criticized the govt of the day”.

JRD Tata WAS such a man. He openly funded the party that opposed Nehru, and openly spoke and wrote against Nehru’s socialism.

Yessir, but that was another time, another age. Even politicians of that age were different, may be misguided by Nehruvian ideology but more honest like today's communists.

    Dear Sanjeev Sabhlok
Thank you for the publicity of http://www.wahsarkar.com
    - I just happened to chance upon this post and didn't even know of your ''formal'' challenge. You did not even bother to inform me in anyway of this ''formal'' challenge. Not even through the twitter conversation which you brandish here.
    - Unfortunately you are correct. I am a KGB stooge. Good call!
    - I had no intention of bullying you. Was just having a casual conversation over twitter with you. I did not know that you were so emotionally distressed by my questions. I hope you are doing better now.
    - That you have linked my ''identity'' to make a case against NRN shows how irrational your argument is.  Irrespective of him ''admiring'' Sonia or MMS, he has spoken when he has felt there is something amiss with govt policy/action although he isn't obligated to do so –  http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/upa-s-handling-of-lokpal-issue-sad-narayana-murthy-112605 , http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2011-06-11/india/29646640_1_lokpal-bill-software-icon-chairman-and-chief-mentor
    - You can find some more instances of my ''blind'' congress love here - https://www.facebook.com/wahsarkar/posts/257947770940441https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=254123521321145&set=a.156463291087169.37528.138557286211103&type=1https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=156463294420502&set=a.156463291087169.37528.138557286211103&type=1&ref=nfhttps://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=156463294420502&set=a.156463291087169.37528.138557286211103&type=1&ref=nfhttp://www.wahsarkar.com/2011/04/the-forgotten-wikileaks/http://www.wahsarkar.com/2011/08/baap-beta-pvt-ltd-indias-political-dynasties/http://www.wahsarkar.com/2011/05/saare-jaha-se-accha-gandhistan-humara/
    - Don't fall for the rhetorical silly Hazare type trap that everything to do with the government is BAD including some guy like NRN who happens to like the Gandhi family but may otherwise have benefited the country tremendously.  You may not agree with him praising MMS but that does not warrant him being called a ''chamcha'' saying that his ''honesty is clearly a sham'' and calling him ''irrelevant'' to India's future.
    - Let me know if you need further insights into the ''gray zone''

    - Even pole-vaulting donkey's seem to get what I'm saying.

WS who are you? Why this dance around the edges of the truth? I did not say you are but you could be one of those who have participated in foreign propaganda in the past.I did note that I do think you are an Indian. Which is fine. But do dislike the idea of anonymity in a public space such as the internet, particularly when you are not going to be burnt at the stake for saying who you are.

Now you are back to promoting NM as a paragon of virtue. He is NOT. Period. Set your standards higher. If you can (being influenced by substandard leaders for so long most Indians no longer understand the concept of ethics).

The rest is not under discussion. Where you are reasonable I will continue to agree with you. In this case you are being swept away in delusion and blinded by NM’s wealth.

  8. Sanjeev Sabhlok says:

WS, let me add this. I’m not interested in your views about NM since neither you nor NM matter (under the current circumstances). I’m interested, however, in both you and NM if possible, ACTING to fix India’s problems.

When you are ready to get off your high pedestal and jump into the rink, I’ll pay more attention to your views. I strongly urge you to remove your veil, and if you agree with policies of liberty, apply to join FTI.

Idle twitter/blog debate serves little purpose.
