My main experience in India is of a miserably slow internet. That could well be my particular connection, but it might be, I suspect, the fate of others in India, too. That means that bells and whistles on this blog could become a problem. The main page of this blog is huge, about 350 KB, and takes a lot of time to load in India.
Based on this and feedback received from PD, I've switched off the bells and whistles in the comments box. Please let me now whether you find the plain vanilla comments box better. I don't know how it works with HTML and don't have the ability to tinker with it or improve it.
You either get this, or we go back the previous fancy one.
Let me know.

Sanjeev–
I like the look of the new comments style. I am going to test a few things to see if they work like other plain text commenting systems I have seen elsewhere.
This is a bold comment.

Sanjeev–
While my previous comment is being held in the moderation queue, I see that basic html codes are being honoured. What would be useful is if you could provide a help link to people so they can know what formatting codes to use.
As for the main page being 350 KB that is because of the various extras you have on the blog –
1. MGID ads
2. Networked blogs
3. Facebook widget
4. Google Friend Connect
5. G+
6. AdSense ads
7. India Blogs
8. Web of Trust
Anyways, thanks for taking on board the feedback.
Dear PD, re: ” What would be useful is if you could provide a help link to people so they can know what formatting codes to use.”
I’ve no idea how to do this. Also I find that 90 per cent of the people don’t have a clue about HTML anyway. So let’s just leave this here for now.
