I'm deeply disappointed at the way the Indian government has caved in to the FEW mad Muslims of India by not ensuring Salman Rushdie's protection for his visit to the Jaipur Literature Festival.
A security dragnet was thrown over the five-day Jaipur Literature Festival that began here today after author Salman Rushdie called off his visit, following threats. Some writers protesting the circumstances of Rushdie’s withdrawal read out an article which had excerpts from The Satanic Verses, his book banned in India.Festival organisers, however, got them to stop reading fearing a backlash. Dear Ash
I’ve written on most of the issues you’ve raised – pl. search my blog.
I oppose violence as a response to someone’s expression of views (no matter how much you disagree with them).
I’m totally comfortable if you debate Rushdie and demolish his false ideas (if any). I’m DEAD AGAINST the idea of “fatwas” and other threats. To such mad Muslims (who do NOT represent what Islam stands for) is my blog post addressed.
